Shear Madness

My friend Alfredo invited me to go America’s
#1 Comedy Shear Madness now playing at the Hertz Theater
in Atlanta until May 15 unless it’s held over and I suspect it will be.

According to the program, the
Boston production is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest
running play in the history of American theatre. Since opening in Boston, it’s
had over 10,000 performances which beats out
Cats’
7,485 and
The Phantom of the
Opera
will have to last 8 more years to
catch up.

There are a few secrets
you learn by the end of the show and I won’t divulge them here but there are
some truly colorful characters. The character of Mrs. Shubert played by Barbara
Bradshaw reminds me of a Julia Sugarbaker from Designing Women meets Clairee
Belcher from Steel Magnolias. And George Contini who plays Tony Whitcomb is a
non-stop witty chatterbox of gay fun. Barbara Jean Devereaux played by Katie
Kneeland is hilarious.

Very unique
and unexpected, Shear Madness is sure to create a special experience each time
you see it.
