Gran Canaria
Hola Chicos,
I finally got access to Wi-Fi when my cousin tells me he's had it all along.
Being in Gran Canaria with my cousin, his wife and their son has been amazing.
We've been around almost the entire island of Gran Canaria from Playa del Inglés to el Roque Nublo.
I've eaten so many foods which I'd never had before and all have been delicious. It's incredible how good food tastes when it's made fresh at home or "casero" !
Many, many pictures will appear after my return to Chicago.

After well over 30 days below freezing, today the temps soared to 55F degrees and it felt great. I went for a refreshing, lakeside walk and enjoyed the view of Lake Michigan, the snow thawing, downtown skyline and oh yeah, the almost naked College boys who went swimming!

Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting the very talented Nate Berkus who hosted an event at the Crimson Lounge sponsored by Out magazine, Chicago Home + Garden magazine and the quite smooth and tasty Basil Hayden's Bourbon.
This event decided the Tastemakers Design Chicago competition. Three top designs selected by Nate were judged by those who attended for a $10,000 prize to change the artist's trajectory in life. Nate won a similar type award from Vox vodka several years ago which helped launch his career.

My 1st Chicago Lakefront Bike Ride
For several years, something I've wanted to do is ride my bike along Chicago's Lakefront bike path on a sunny day.
Yesterday, my dream came true! I rode 7.5 miles south and then back for a total of 15 miles. On my return trip, I stopped in several places to take pictures.

Cloudland Canyon Hike
In our summer of hiking Roman and I have been to many places, but the one place I've always wanted to visit is Cloudland Canyon. Since I knew it would probably be a very long time before I could hike again, I wanted to go somewhere I'd never been. Vince joined us and drove so I wouldn't be wind-blown in Roman's Jeep with the doors removed.
We ran into some friends from Atlanta on the trail which was such a surprise. Vince sprained his ankle and went to flirt with the cute DNR rangers while they wrapped his ankle and we even marked the occasion with a cold beer in Chattanooga afterwards. Turns out the Atlanta Bucks Rugby team had played a game today and were having their "3rd half" at the bar almost next door to the Big Chill. We didn't stay long but Carla took good care of us.

Black Rock Mountain Hike
We didn't see any live bears today but we did see goats on the roof!
First, we stopped at Tallulah Gorge, then went to Black Rock Mountain State Park and finally to see the goats on the roof.

Vogel State Park & Helton Creek Falls
I went on a 7.5 mile hike with Roman today. We hiked from the Vogel State Park Trailhead up to Bear Hair Gap Trail and then to the Coosa Backcountry Trail to almost the peak of Slaughter mountain and then back.
And yes, I took a bunch of pictures of Roman for his fans out there - you know who you are, so comment on this post.
Oh and we saw another bear on this hike! It had it's frightful moment but we lived to tell about it.

Jason took me to see Psycho Babble at Therapy which, of course, means hearing a splattering of lackluster applause for the hostess herself, Miss Mimi Imfurst.
With Portia at her side, these girls don't lip sync but actually sing a bunch of great songs. Mimi's quite creative when changing the words to songs making them much funnier than the original.

Blood Mountain Hike
Roman and I hiked in the Blood Mountain Wilderness, the Chattahoochee National Forest and even a couple of miles on the Appalachian Trail (AT) today.
We wanted to get away from the city and enjoy some great views and hiking. We found out quickly that: On the AT on Blood Mountain a rock shelter stands, and of this trail the USFS says: " . . . the most heavily used portion of the AT in Georgia."
We started on the trail from Lake Winfield Scott, took a right to catch the Jarrard Gap Trail up to Jarrard Gap. From there, we hiked the Appalachian Trail (AT) up to the peak of Blood Mountain. After enjoying the spectacular views from the peak, we continued on the AT down the other side of the mountain to the Freeman Trail. This difficult and rocky trail led us back to the AT and to the start of the Slaughter Creek Trail which we took back to the parking lot at Lake Winfield Scott. We hiked for almost 6 hours.

Island Ford Hike
I went hiking without Terminally Single Tim, who couldn't join me today. I got there, paid my $3 for a day pass and then quickly proceeded to lock my keys in my car. 
After much time and effort (Thanks Eric!!), I actually hiked the Island Ford Trail at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

It's time to put Christmas behind me and return to Atlanta. On my way
out, I noticed a box with writing on it.
My mom abbreviated Christmas, ChrX on the boxes of decorations.
My brothers and I aren't quite sure how that works.

It was close to 80 degrees today and we enjoyed the afternoon by going out on my brother's boat. I guess this is why people like living in Florida during holidays!
